Palin, Preludes, and Priorities

I've now received no less than 15 anti-Palin emails.

They deride her qualifications, plead with the reader to send out a global alarm, and urge all women to protest the governor's appearances.

Imagine if the same energy had been put into stopping the slaughter in Iraq.

I can hardly bear to open my inbox these days. I am sick of getting the same old emails about how eeevil Sarah Palin is, and today was the kicker: NOW, an organization that is supposed to be about the advancement of WOMEN, has endorsed Obama/Biden. I immediately unsusubscribed from their mailing list. Feh.

I feel the same way, Carissa. But with me it's the telephone. Just got another phonecall today from a friend who enumerated the 'Sins of Sarah'. And foremost among them is the fact that she dared to marry someone who got a DUI a couple decades ago.

I'm not a swearing sort of woman, but....great balls of fire!!!

I received a disgusting email about Sarah Palin from "Mrs. Small" (think 1974) and I just had to let her have it. I won't stand by and let this go unchecked - at least not when I CAN say or do something about it. She will probably never speak to me again, and that's ok. It was exhilarating and frightening at the same time, to speak up to this figure of authority from my youth.

I'm with you--to stay silent is to be complicit in the whole business. But...it couldn't have been OUR Mrs. Small...

Oh yes, the very same Mrs. Small. The one who said to me (before the primaries had even begun) that she would never vote for Hillary because she was too "divisive!"

By the way, did you figure out who I am?

I've puzzled over it! Are you AnnE?

Well, I am Anne NOW, but that is not the name I went by in high school. My initials were L.E.

Well, I'm pretty sure who you are now (having consulted the yearbook!) but don't want to put your name here in Blogsville. So, how about this...when thinking of your high school name, are the fourth letter of your first name and the last letter of your last name the same?

How is Mrs. Small? And Mr. Small? And all my long ago classmates?

That 'divisive' conviction touted by many was the sort of thing put out there by anti-Hillary folks in an effort to dismiss the senator early on, I believe.

Ironic, isn't it? The dems have never been more divided than they are now. Guess that 'divisive' tactic worked after all, just not quite the way they'd hoped.
